Oil & HFC media filtration

SYSTEM (IN-LINE) FILTERS FOR OIL AND HFC MEDIA

The function of the filter is based on the principles of “trapping” and “blocking” the passage of mechanical particles of various sizes. The effectiveness of the filter depends on a number of factors that can act in an unfavourable manner: the fall of pressure, intensity of operation and the unreliability of internal seals and fittings.

Depending on the place of installation and operation, filters can be:

  1. high pressure, medium pressure, low pressure
  2. suction
  3. return

We supply a range of filters of specific construction, such as duplex type with built-in two-way or three-way valve. These are dual chamber filters with one chamber active and the other on stand-by; when one is saturated, filtration is switched to the clean chamber.

ELEMENTS FOR FILTERS AND FILTER DEVICES

The filter element is the name for the vital part of each filter and filter systems. These can be categorised by several criteria, and in practice there is an important division according to the principle of filtration (radial, axial).

The required filtration fineness determines the choice of the filter material from which the filter body will be made:

  • Steel wire mesh, fineness of 25 μm, 40 μm, 80 μm or coarser. It is used where surface filtration alone is sufficient.
  • Cellulose fibre or cellulose and polyester fibre woven filter cloth.
These are used for filtration fineness ranging from 10 μm to 25 μm in surface filtration.
  • Glass fibres provide in-depth filtration, high capacity of absorption, great ability to hold impurities and fineness of filtration (3, 6, 10, 16, 25 μm ) even at a high pressure difference.

Glass fibre filter elements are suitable for the filtration of HFA media (emulsion formed by mixing oil – max. of 20% by volume, in water) , HFC media (polyglycol solution in water) and HFD media (phosphate – ester synthetic media).

RADIAL FILTER ELEMENTS

Filtering is mainly based on filter elements where the flow of media passes radially through the filtration element, which is considered to be a surface filtration.

As well as for applications in processing and manufacturing industries, radial filter elements are used in filtration for transport vehicles, construction and agricultural machinery, and other “off-road” vehicles and machine fuels.

AXIAL FILTER ELEMENTS

Axial filtration is based on the axial flow of media through the element.
It is applied in the filtration of the secondary (bypass) circuit. This type of element is unique in its 3 in 1 effect. It simultaneously eliminates 99.9% of all debris, absorbs water to a level below 80 ppm, and retains all products of oxidation and polymer sludge.

Due to its design, it provides axial flow of media through 3 different filter layers, providing high efficiency filtration.

For each specific industrial application, there is an appropriate filter element marked with a different colour.

Green print: M-series, 2 μm (β2>200),
Blue print: E-series, 3 μm (β3>75),
Orange print: X-series, 5 μm (β5>75),
Red print: D-series, 2 μm (β2>75) + 80 % higher capacity to hold contaminants
Yellow: WG-series, 5 μm (β5>75), or water-glycol medium
White: WE-100: water absorber, absorbing 900 ml of water and soaks up the oil up to 80 ppm.

They are available in four sizes (30, 50, 100, 300), and can be made from cellulose, polyester (PEST) and polypropylene (PP).

FILTER DEVICES FOR THE FILTRATION OF THE BYPASS CIRCUIT

For oil to be able to perform its function in machinery it must possess the necessary chemical properties and prescribed level of purity. However, the processes in the operating environments and the atmosphere that surrounds them inevitably generate pollution that gradually deteriorates the oil and impairs its chemical properties.

Therefore it is necessary to protect the oil system and to maintain its required purity. This is only possible by using a combination of system filters and filter devices in a bypass (secondary) circuit, which provide in-depth filtering of the entire oil system.

The use of bypass filter devices greatly extends the life span of the oil, minimises costs of maintenance and disposal of spent oil, all of which directly contributes to the protection and preservation of the environment.

RRR FILTER DEVICES, SE AND OSCA SERIES

There is a wide range of micro-filter units that are differentiated by filtration capacity and construction characteristics. They are designed for the filtration of all types of oils (hydraulic, lubricating, turbine, glycol based media, …).

The units can be stationary or mobile. They are simple to operate and maintain. Standard versions are supplied fully equipped, with pre-filter, pressure gauge, vacuum-meter and electrical control box.

Devices in the SE series are suitable for tanks of up to 10000 litres.

INTERNORMEN - EATON FILTER DEVICES

These filter units are intended for fine filtration – removal of contaminants in the by-pass circuit, as well as enabling oil changes and top-ups of oil reservoirs.

The units can be fixed (US), and Mobile (UM). They are intended primarily for the maintenance of oil systems.

The units are self-pumping as they are equipped with a gear pump. Depending on customer needs, the integrated filter elements can be of 1, 3, 6, 10 μm or even coarser by request.

Can be equipped with pre-filter, contamination gauge and heat exchanger.

FILTER DEVICES FOR VACUUM FILTRATION - IFPM SERIES

In addition to devices for micro-filtration and filtration of mechanical impurities, we are offering devices for the vacuum filtration of oil contaminated with water.

  • Moisture in the oil system causes corrosion of metal surfaces, leading to ageing of metals, as well as oxidation and ageing of oil. Numerous studies have confirmed that water in hydraulic systems can shorten the life of machines by more than 50%.

Devices for vacuum filtration remove free, emulsified and bound water, free and associated gas, as well as solid particulates simultaneously. They have been developed for the filtration of oils of different viscosity, ranging from electrical insulating oil to high viscosity gear oil.

IFPM  – a mobile system for vacuum filtration is available in two standard models: IFPM 32, for the capacity of 30 l/min and IFPM 72, capable of 70 l/min.

  • IFPM devices operate completely automatically. The WSPS 05 water sensor continuously monitors the level of water saturation of the oil. A ventilation filter (vent) with silica-gel dries the incoming air, increasing the efficiency of the filter system, even in an environment with high levels of humidity.
